![]() I see there's a bunch of "new members" with squares and exclamation points. I've seen the symbols before, but paid no attention to it.
I was curious this time, and clicked on the profiles. All of them have a link to a homepage that appears to be some kind of porn or other site. I did not click on any links. Are we getting bombarded again? Or if this just what happens? I'm just making trying to make sure we don't crash again. |

I've noticed this too. There are about 40 of them. If you look at the join date, you'll notice that it's probably the same person and they occassionally join about 6 or 7 times a day. I think these "members" peddlin' porn should be deleted (and blocked if possible).

Delete for sure but.......
I think this is a manifestation of the "Hacking" problem we had a while back. I don't think it's a person or persons joining but some automated process.

Could be automated for sure. Good call. But, it has been going on since way before the hacker hit the forums.

That's clearly a bot that is reproducing itself inside the forum.
The solution is to include a secret code in each registration form like for example Vb45RSt and ask the person that's trying to register to reproduce the code using the exact low and high cases. There's a program that you can use which will provide a different code to each registration form. Bots can't reproduce those secret codes, so you'll be sure that each registered member is a person and not a bot. I can't help you with names of products or software because as any respectable lawyer my knowledge of this technicall isues is almost equal to nothing, but I'm sure you must know some expert. Iván |

maybe put a time period on your user name. If your not using it in a specific time period. You have to join again, or something like that.

Looks like the porn bot is back. Today (08-27-04) we've gotten a few "new" members, with links to porn. One of the links is to a site about rape pictures (edited link out) - now this has got to be stopped somehow.

As for Ivan's suggestion that we put in a "enter the code" feature, it's not a bad idea, and shouldn't be that difficult to implement. If Unter would ever find his way back, I'll add that to the list of things I need to discuss with him. Roger -Dot- Lee, not looking at that URL from work even though my last day is in exactly one week.
