The Fusion Reactor #71 - 80's Music
In honor of my 15-year class reunion this past weekend, I thought I'd put together a show of prog and fusion tunes from the 80's...
Don't run away just yet. There was some good music put out in the 80's in the prog and fusion scenes. The sound is often dated but still that doesn't mean it's bad musically. Here's the playlist: Tears For Fears - Listen 06:49 Miles Davis - Jo-Jo 04:52 Rush - Losing It 04:53 Pat Metheny - Ozark 04:04 Three - Eight Miles High 04:12 Emerson, Lake & Powell - Touch and Go 03:39 Passport - Piece for Rock Orchestra 05:41 Kate Bush - Jig of Life 04:04 Stanley Clarke - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat 06:25 Schon & Hammer - Arc 03:47 Jan Hammer & David Earle Johnson - Green & Black 03:31 Jerry Goodman - Once Only 04:18 Jethro Tull - Strange Avenues 04:11 Pierre Moerlen's Gong - Deep End 04:49 Kerry Livgren - High On A Hill 03:53 Kansas - End Of The Age 04:33 Vital Information - Celebration 06:43 Supertramp - No Inbetween 04:37 Tangerine Dream - Midnight In Tula 04:00 Panta Rhei - Toccata 02:56 Robert Fripp & Andy Summers - Under Bridges Of Silence 01:42 King Crimson - The Howler 04:14 Bill Bruford - Pilgrims' Way 06:11 Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe - Fist Of Fire 03:33 Ozric Tentacles - Misty Gliss 04:35 Peter Gabriel - It Is Accomplished 02:56

Re: The Fusion Reactor #71 - 80's Music
I like the variation, nice show! Moses goes commercial! (just kidding..not about the nice show part..that was real)
I know someone who loves the TFF "Listen". It never connected with me like their other songs. But he is very passionate about that song! Speaking of Kerry L., is "Seeds of Change" on CD? I have the album....how do his other's stack up? |

Quote:
I have Time Line and Prime Mover, which are technically Kerry Livgren/AD albums. I like them pretty well - they're stylistically similar to the early 80's Kansas albums, with perhaps a little more of a prog bent to them in places. The track on the show, "High On a Hill" is a pretty good representation of the style on them. It's not 70's Kansas, but what else is? [edit]I almost forgot... I also have Kerry's One Of Several Possible Musiks, which is pretty much all instrumentals. I like that one two, although it's completely different from the Kansas and AD stuff.
