Re: sing

My point was just that, while I understand that a lot of people don't like his voice or what he does with it, that doesn't make him a bad singer. It just makes him a singer you don't like. I think he's doing precisely what he's trying to do with his voice, and some of us think it works.

There's a long list of people with bad voices who are popular singers anyway, like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Geddy Lee, Tom Verlaine, Stevie Nicks, Tom Waits, Louis Armstrong, Shane MacGowan, Kurt Kobain, Les Claypool, Brian Johnson, Alice Cooper, Willie Nelson, Captain Beefheart, Gordon Gano, etc. And, god forbid, that growling cookie monster crap. Hey, if you can do that growling thing for more than one song and still have a voice, maybe you ARE good. lol. Hell, some of the best singers in the world sing opera... I'm not a fan of that either, but I wouldn't say they're bad singers just because I don't like it.

I just feel that there's a distinction, but maybe I'm wrong.
